Two Poems - for Claude, such a Good Man
back to Saints page for Claude Hazel Sr

also below: Obituary published 12 Oct

Into the Light Gone Away
One by one into the light we walk
Our voices are silenced
We are seen no more
But we are remembered
By the Shadows we have cast
And the hearts in which we dwell
Our home was never really here
For in our hearts we knew better
We pilgrims on the Way
Dear Claude you were one of many
Who stood upon the Rock
And chiseled your name for all to see
A new name now you shall receive
From Him who names all that is
This Hope we have that soothes our grief
Until at last we shall see you face to face!
I passed by your house today
But you weren't there, you'd gone away
For no one here is meant to stay
We all move toward the endless day
But the ties of Earth are severed hard
With your passing our hearts are marred
Yet hope in Heaven is what we have
That is our balm, that is our salve
This is the promise to which we cling
This is the joy of which we sing
For we know that Death is but the Door
That opens to Life that lasts for evermore!

Claude, you were too much in my heart
for me to write just one poem for you!
