Tom D: Ken was like
a second father to me. I lived in the Matthews household in 1980 for
an entire year. He epitomized what it means to be a gentleman. And
he was a gentle man. Much of what I know about kindness and
patience, I learned from him. I watched how he loved and nurtured
his family through good times and bad. We had some really funny
times together. Like when we used to help clean up Harold Clothier's
car wash and all of the pranks we would play on the Schiffmayer
household and especially Robert H. (The infamous Bowling Ball
Caper).
Ken was a model for
me of what a real Christian gentleman acted like. He made me
feel significant and valued as a person. I keep wanting to weep,
but every time I think of Ken I remember something funny we did
or said together. I had a dream about him last night. It was
brief, but he was standing in a room smiling at me. Then Lucy
informed me that he passed this morning. I dunno much about how
the afterlife really works, but I choose to believe that was
real.

Ellen C: What a
great man! I was in his carpool for a short time in 1981. He
drove, and it was Linda H, Janie P, and myself, at
least; I cannot remember who else was in it. But we just had a
blast because Ken was so much fun! Seems like there was a
windshield wiper or window lining or something in the front
window that would pop out when we hit a certain speed. He'd
always yell out - we're at warp speed now!!! I will look forward
to sharing heaven with him when I get there. My thoughts and
prayers are with the family as they grieve his loss of time here
with them.

Diane N: I still have the
dresser and chest of drawers Ken brought to my condo which I
bought from him and Amanda when I had no furniture after leaving
community. He also brought the frame for my mattress. He told me
they had that for 25 years and was happy to know I would now
have it. Ken, just want you to know....it's still here!

Donna H: So sorry to
hear about Ken. I remember the Matthews family at Redeemer. Such
a special time and special memories. God bless you Amanda and
kids that were so young back then. May you fill your hearts and
minds with wonderful memories of a good man. God bless you all.

Tom D: Ken Matthew's Funeral
was a wonderful celebration of a a fine Christian man's life. We
will miss Ken, but he is one guy who really and truly made a
significant mark on the world and in a completely positive
manner. |
